Singing Creep, Awesomely

Last night brought  the season finale of  “The Sing Off,” the only reality/talent show on television that I really like.

The gist of the show is acapella groups compete for a grand prize. Unlike all the other shows, everybody on The Sing Off was talented, earnest and genuine, a rarity for network TV.

The awesome acapella group Street Corner Symphony perform on "The Sing Off."

The group I was most rooting for, Street Corner Symphony, some laid-back guys from Nashville, didn’t win, but came in second place. And the group that won, Committed, a group of church-going young men from Alabama, was so good I couldn’t complain about their success.

The highlight of the season was when Street Corner Symphony sang “Creep,” the dark Radiohead hit about self-loathing and obsession. Most of the songs in this season’s Sing Off were pretty bright and cheery, so it was nice to hear someone cater so well to my taste in dark music.

Problem is, now I’m singing “Creep” to myself all the time. What if I burst out audibly:  “I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo. What the hell am I doing here? I don’t belong here.”

Probably wouldn’t leave a very positive impression, huh?

Anyway, this is worth the watch: Street Corner Symphony singing “Creep.”  They’re all terrific, and the lead singer blows you away:
